"We received information about the video and conducted an investigation. We were able to identify the individuals and subsequently located them," said Kombes Stefanus Satake Bayu Setianto, the Head of Public Relations at Bali Police on Monday (May 1).
"The suspects have been arrested and will be released to the public. The male suspect was apprehended a few days ago," he added.
Satake explained that the female suspect was arrested first as her identity was known earlier than the male suspect. The male suspect was apprehended afterward.
"The female suspect was apprehended first and then, a few days later, we arrested the male suspect," he said.
Previously, Bali Police were investigating and searching for the initial uploader of the sex video, which was allegedly performed by a Balinese girl. Additionally, Bali Police were searching for the suspects involved in the video.
The sex video, which featured a young couple believed to be from Bali, went viral on social media. The video shows only the girl's face, while the man's face is covered. The video was recorded at an inn in Denpasar, Bali, and both individuals wore Tridatu bracelets, a symbol of the Island of the Gods.
The video was not the only one; there were three videos that showed the same individuals engaging in sexual activities, and all contained a watermark of a Telegram group called "Om Bejo," which is believed to be the source of the distribution.
"If the individuals who created the pornographic video can be identified, they could be charged with pornography, and those who shared the video could be charged under the Information and Electronic Transactions Law. We will investigate everything," said Satake earlier.
