"There is a limit to PDIP's patience. We urge respect for the voice of the people and discourage the indulgence of power-hungry ambitions. We have our limits," he asserted firmly.
The remarks stem from the ongoing discourse surrounding the contest for the position of Speaker of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI), initiated by Golkar through proposed revisions to the MD3 Law (Law Number 2 of 2018 concerning the MPR, DPR, DPD, and DPRD).
According to Hasto, the position of Speaker of the DPR RI symbolizes the people's trust in the winning party of the elections.

PDIP emerged as the victor of the 2024 elections with a significant mandate, securing 25,387,279 votes, as confirmed by the national vote tally on Wednesday (March 20).
This victory positioned PDIP to claim the Speaker's seat in the DPR automatically.
"Any attempt to alter such provisions reflects an ambition for power, which could potentially incite social conflicts, even bloodshed. Therefore, we caution against provocative actions, especially considering PDIP's patience in 2014," Hasto warned during a press conference at the PDIP headquarters in Central Jakarta on Monday (March 25, 2024).
Hasto referenced the events of the 2014 elections, where despite emerging as the election's winner, PDIP exercised restraint after failing to secure the Speaker's position in the DPR.
"We expect our colleagues from Golkar to learn from the events of 2014. Within the political norms we uphold, it is unacceptable to amend laws pertaining to election results post-election. Such actions signify ambition and power greed," he added.
As tensions escalate between the two parties, observers are keenly watching the unfolding events, wary of the potential ramifications on Indonesia's political stability.
