In a written statement, the spokesperson for the South Jakarta District Court, Djuyamto, stated that the Jakarta High Court Panel of Judges had previously upheld the death sentence against Ferdy Sambo, which was previously imposed by the South Jakarta District Court.
The Prosecutor's Office also filed a cassation petition against the appellate verdict of the three other defendants, namely Putri Candrawathi, Kuat Maruf, and Ricky Rizal alias Bripka RR. However, as of now, Sambo and his colleagues have not stated their position regarding the cassation petition against the appellate verdict.
The Panel of Judges of the Jakarta High Court has confirmed the first-level verdict against the four defendants in the case. Ferdy Sambo remains sentenced to death, Putri Candrawathi to 20 years in prison, Kuat Maruf to 15 years in prison, and Ricky Rizal to 13 years in prison. They were found guilty of committing the planned murder of Brigadier J.
Although there is no official statement from the Attorney General's Office regarding the cassation petition filed by the South Jakarta District Court, the cassation verdict has attracted public attention. This case proves that the law in Indonesia is enforced strictly to ensure the safety and well-being of the people. We should be proud that our justice system remains independent and decides cases fairly and objectively.***
