HOT NEWS INDONESIA - On June 26, 2023, the Purwakarta Regency Government organized the National Affordable Food Movement as a concerted effort to stabilize food supplies and prices.

The event, held at Panorama Purwakarta Housing, was met with excitement and enthusiasm from the local community, with the presence of Purwakarta Regent, Anne Ratna Mustika.

The Affordable Food Movement (GPM) is a nationwide program held at over 300 locations spread across provinces, cities, and regencies.

Its primary aim is to ensure the availability and affordability of essential food items, especially leading up to the religious and national holiday of Idul Adha.

Uniting for Food Security:

Head of the National Food Agency, H. Arief Perasetyo Adi, conveyed his virtual address during the event, emphasizing that this occasion set a new MURI record for the largest coordinated food movement at over 300 different locations across Indonesia. This marked the official commencement of the nationwide GPM initiative.

A bountiful Cheap Market (Pasar Murah) was established as part of the event, offering a variety of staple food items at affordable prices, even below market rates. 

Among the available commodities were rice, eggs, chili, shallots, garlic, chicken, beef, sugar, cooking oil, as well as an assortment of vegetables and fruits.

Government Commitment:

The presence of local government officials in the event showcased their commitment to supporting and ensuring the success of the GPM program. 

Notable figures such as Asda 3, the Head of Animal Husbandry and Fisheries, the Head of Agriculture Office, the District Head of Purwakarta, and the village heads actively participated in the event to show their endorsement of the program.

Positive Impact on the Community:

The Gerakan Pangan Murah (GPM) program is expected to yield positive outcomes for the residents of Purwakarta Regency. By ensuring the availability and affordability of food, the economic burden on the community is expected to decrease, particularly during the holiday of Idul Adha.
